Hi. great plug-in. I am finding a lot of useful use cases for examining and reporting on trade activity.
Could you explain what some of the functions mean. For “Dimensions” what does order (auto, unordered, ordered) mean. For “General Settings” what does ” disable interpolation” mean?
We are glad that you enjoy the plugin!
The text that Savvy will generate will be different whether your dimension is ordered (a month for example: January 2016, February 2016, March 2016..) or unordered (a list of countries for example). An ordered dimension is essentially a dimension where each value comes after the previous one: January 2016, February 2016, March 2016. Savvy will automatically detect whether your dimension is ordered or not, but in some specific cases, you may want to choose yourself. That is why this “order” option exists.
Regarding interpolation, when some data points are missing, Savvy will use the average of the previous and next value to run its analysis. This is called “interpolation”.
A small example:
Say you have 2 dimensions: “country” with 2 countries [“US”,France”] and “month” with 12 months [“January 2015” … “December 2015”]. If a value of your measure is known for every single month for the US, but a value is missing for France in March, Savvy will use the interpolated value for March for France, and this value will be “(March(for France) – January(for France)/2)”. Since you may not want Savvy to interpolate, you can disable interpolation via the settings. In that case, Savvy will treat the missing value as a 0.
Feel free to play around with the settings and experiment with the different text output to see the difference.
